
College Basketball: Murray State’s women ended a seven game losing skid Sunday with a 80-60 victory over Evansville. Katelyn Young led the Racers with 29 points followed by Macey Turley with 15 and Bria Sanders-Woods off the bench had 10. Murray State is now 12-11 overall and 5-9 in the Missouri Valley. Calloway County’s girls visit Lyon County this evening with pre game at 7:15 on 104.5 WBZB. The Calloway County boys are also in action this evening at St. Mary’s.
College Softball: Murray State concluded play in the Wildcat Invitational at Abilene Christian Sunday by edging UTEP 7-6. On Saturday, the Racers lost to host Abilene Christian 13-12 and defeated Texas A&M Corpus Christi 5-1 after losing twice Friday to UTEP and Texas A&M Corpus Christi. The Racers will meet Kennesaw State and host Troy Friday at the Trojan Classic.
NFL: The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 in Super Bowl 57 Sunday. KC erased a 24-14 halftime deficit as Harrison Butker nailed the 24-yard game winning field goal with just eight seconds left in the game. Patrick Mahomes threw for 182 yards, three touchdowns and rushed for 44 yards including a key 26-yard scramble to set up the game-winning kick. Mahomes was named Super Bowl MVP for the second time in his career.
MLB: St. Louis Cardinals pitchers and catchers that are participating in the World Baseball Classic report to Spring Training today. The rest of St. Louis’ roster will start reporting on Wednesday.
NBA: Ja Morant led all scorers with 25 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the Memphis Grizzlies 119-109 loss to the Boston Celtics Sunday. Memphis welcomes the Utah Jazz Wednesday night.
