Governor Beshear has announced the appointment f Brian Edmiston of Murray as the newest member of Murray State University’s Board of Regents. According to a news release, Edmiston is replacing Sam Aguiar of Louisville. Aguiar has served on the board since 2021. Edmiston-owner and president/CEO of Edmiston Holdings LLC, will serve on the board untiul June 30, 2027.
If you travel Interstate 24 in portions of Lyon and Caldwell counties, there will workers out working on the roadway. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says there will be intermittent daytime work zone lane restrictions at various locations between the 34 and 55 mile marker for about two weeks. The work zone lane restriction is expected to be about one mile long and change locations from time to time.
The Calloway County Board of Education will hold a special called student discipline hearing this evening. The meeting takes place at 6 pm.
New information has surfaced in regards to two threats made at Lyon County Middle School last Wednesday. West Kentucky Star.com reports two juveniles were charged in two separate incidents. A 12-year-old male was charged after allegedly threatening another student. The juvenile reportedly threatened to bring a gun and knife to the school to shoot and stab the other juvenile.
Later that day, a 13-year-old female was charged after making a threat toward the school following a reported dress code violation. The female allegedly made the threat to school staff.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell says the White House must work out a debt ceiling deal with House Republicans. The Kentucky Republican told reporters yesterday it’s “entirely reasonable” for the GOP to seek spending cuts in exchange for votes to raise the debt ceiling. House Republicans have called for deep cuts to federal spending in order to raise the limit. McConnell added he doesn’t believe a debt ceiling measure that originates in the Senate can successfully pass the House.
