GRIZZLIES EDGE HEAT
The Memphis Grizzlies held on for a 89-85 victory to snap the Heat’s five-game winning streak. Kyle Anderson, Ja Morant, and De’Anthony Melton each scored 13 points as Memphis ended a three-game drought. The Grizz improve to 18-and-19 and are home tomorrow night and Saturday against Golden State.

CARDS AND ASTROS PLAY TO A DRAW

BROWN STAYING WITH TENNESSEE
Jayon Brown is remaining with the Titans. The NFL Network reports the versatile starting linebacker has agreed to a one-year 5.25-million dollar contract. He is fully recovered from a Week 11 elbow injury that ended his 2020 season. He is entering his fifth NFL season after Tennessee drafted him in the fifth round in 2017 out of UCLA.

NATIONAL SPORTS BRIEFS
The Rockets set a franchise-record with their 18th straight loss. They fell 108-94 to the Warriors in Houston. In their inaugural season of 1967-68 in San Diego, the Rockets lost 17 in-a-row. They relocated to Houston in 1971. The NBA record skid over one season is 26.

The Rangers scored seven times in the second period en route to a 9-0 rout of the Flyers in New York. Mika Zibanejad had three goals and three assists to highlight the explosion. The Rangers won despite their coaching staff being ruled out due to COVID-19 protocols.

The Cardinals are adding to their offense with the signing of veteran receiver A.J. Green. Arizona also acquired center Rodney Hudson from the Raiders and signed former Lions kicker Matt Prater. Longtime Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson signed with the Vikings.

The NCAA Tournament begins tonight with the First Four. Instead of Dayton, the games are in Indiana. Drake-Wichita State and UCLA-Michigan State are both in West Lafayette. Texas Southern-Mount St. Mary’s and Appalachian State-Norfolk State are in Bloomington.

Lee Westwood, Rickie Fowler, and Phil Mickelson head the field for the Honda Classic, which tees off today at Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Westwood finished runner-up in the last two PGA stops. Three golfers have withdrawn after positive COVID-19 tests.
