
Kentucky State Police at the Mayfield post are continuing their investigation into a shooting in Calloway County that occurred early Friday morning. According to a news release, the officer-involved shooting occurred around 1 am. The Calloway County Sheriff’s Department requested the KSP’s help. The unidentified male shot in the incident was taken to Murray-Calloway County Hospital where he died. No other details about the incident are currently known.
Three Mayfield men were arrested in a drug investigation Friday where some three thousand Fentanyl pills were also found. West Kentucky Star.com reports McCracken County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a car in a Paducah motel parking lot where 40 Fentanyl pills and bags of marijuana were discovered in a vehicle. Arrested were 28-year-old Frankus Cherry and 22-year-old Tashawn Jackson. They were lodged in the McCracken County Jail.
Another vehicle was stopped on Lone Oak Road where 33-year-old David Roberson was arrested on charges with trafficking in Fentanyl. Roberson’s home was searched and some three thousand Fentanyl pills were discovered along with marijuana, a handgun and cash.
A Hopkinsville man is dead following a shooting there on Saturday night. WHOP Radio reports 46-year-old Joshua Wiley was shot at his Foxfield Road home. Hopkinsville police say an altercation between Wiley and a family member led to the shooting, but the shooter has not been arrested as investigators are trying to determine if the shooting was in self defense.
There are over a hundred new Kentucky State Police cadets. KSP welcomed 103 new recruits this weekend which represents the largest class since 2014. Sworn personnel numbers have increased since a recent 15-thousand dollar salary increase. The class was made up of 98 men and five women.
